Shirtless wonder
Some refreshing stuff from IIFA land. The comment of the event goes to Salman Khan . When asked about his contribution to Indian cinema, Salman quipped, “The only contribution I’ve made is removing my shirt.” Now if only some other people learn to be as cool as Salman, it would help global warming.
Where’s the party?
Salman was the real showstopper of IIFA. First he dazzled at the media briefing of Partner and the music launch of his Hollywood film Marigold and then he interacted with fans at a retrospective of his films. But his real star power was at display when he threw an impromptu bash at his hotel suite at The Queens in Leeds. Everyone, including Shilpa Shetty, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Govinda, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar were there. So who was missing? Well, the Bachchans, of course.

What to do with the new Mrs Bachchan? She sticks to her hubby like Fevikwik and brings up the Bachchan family name even if somebody inquires about the weather. It seems the honeymoon period is still not over for Aishwarya Rai nee Bachchan. But the glow vanishes as soon as you bring the Indian media in front of her. At the recent IIFA awards in Yorkshire, Ash and Abhi categorically refused to give interviews to Indian journalists for fear of being swamped by questions about their wedding. But then why did they give 10-minute talkathons to the foreign media and only cooed about their marriage? Abhishek said, “I strongly recommend marriage.” While Ash said, “It’s great to be part of the Bachchan family.” So much for exclusivity! We could have said the same thing for them in our sleep. Yawn! |
